Characteristic of the region are the white washed villages and towns with their narrow streets and markets, as well as the combination of mountains, lakes, nature parks, caves, wide beaches and small bays. It's a breathtaking scenery that can be discovered easily on foot or by car.

It is possible to climb Mount Maroma (2065 m), make long and short walks through the Sierras and in January and February you can enjoy the pink and white almond blossom.
As well as hiking, there are many routes to get to know the Axarquia by car: Ruta Mudéjar, Ruta del Sol y del Vino, Ruta del Sol y Aguacate, Ruta del Aceite y del Montes. These car routes are well marked and easily reached from Casa Pimienta.

Football fans can watch a home match at FC Málaga. People who are fond of cities, art and culture will have plenty to discover in the region. Not to be missed is a visit to Granada, with the famous Alhambra Palace and the Moorish quarter Albaicín. Málaga has beautiful museums, including the Picasso museum and Málaga museum. Also the Roman-Moorish fort is worth a visit. For the real city lovers Córdoba (190 km) and Seville (240 km) are within reach.
